Respite foster parents provide short term care for foster children which enables the foster parents to take a break from the daily care of a foster child.  Some children require intensive care and parents can soon become burned out and feel they need a short break.  On occasions a foster family may have a family emergency to arise and may need respite care.

If you are interested in becoming a respite only foster parent please talk with one of our licensing workers.  Later if you decide to care for foster children full time you can inform your licensing worker.

**The training and licensing requirements are the same for respite and full time foster parents.
